Rogue Hunter: Dark Space by Kevin Hendrickson

Cover: Could use some work, maybe switch over to illustrations. I do like the photography though-- perfetct representation of one of the main characters, Zyra.
Author: Kevis Hendrickson
Genre: Action and Adventure, Adult, Sci-fi
Goodreads Blurb:
Shortly after her trial on New Venus, Zyra Zanr is captured by a team of rival bounty hunters and brought aboard their ship, the Lilith. They intend to take her to the planet Sojo, home of a powerful crime boss who nurses a grievance against her. Zyra fears for her life, knowing death awaits her at the end of the journey. A series of intense confrontations between Zyra and her captors lead to her horrifying torture.

Drugged, beaten, and near death, Zyra escapes her cell and is pursued. The enemy will stop at nothing to recapture her. Enraged by the abuse she has suffered, Zyra decides to turn the table on the Lilith's crew and show them why she is the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy.

Review:
This book was really interesting. Let's start with setting.

I liked that sort-of Star Trek feel to the novel. I liked the "new universe" and the star-ships and all the terms used. It all correlated well.

Moving on to characters:

I adored the character revealing throughout the book. Kevis really took the time to reveal a detail about the character so bye the end, we have a illustrative view of the personality of each character.

The only problem I had with the characters was their physical descriptions. I sometimes had trouble seeing the characters in my head. Otherwise, development and personality was exceptional.

I had not read the first book when I picked up this one, but I felt as if I had. I think the author did an exceptional job of explaining what was going on and who was who, even though I myself went into it with no knowledge of the world at all. I liked the whole "everyone's a villain" theme. They are all bounty hunters and they all have and do kill daily. I liked Zyra Zanr, our main girl, and at first, we can only see her as an animal. A killing machine. But in those few moments, we see the true human shining through.

I thought that was just exceptional.

The book really kept me intrigued and on my feet. What will happen next? Who's going do die? And will the ship blow?

Wait to go Mr. Hendrickson!

Future News:
The next book is set to be published in 2014.

Overall it was an exceptional book, despite a few flaws. I definitely want to go back and read the first one and then son read the next one.

I'll see you guys tomorrow!

School and such....

Hey guys...

It's been a while. I'm really sorry I didn't have my act together this week. It's just been a little hectic for me. I hope I can back into jest of things. I want to do a bunch more reviews, and read some more now that it's calmed down a bit and I get a four day weekend next weekend. BUT I HAVE OTHER THINGS TO COMMUNICATE:

RICK RIORDAN:

  • As you all should know, House of Hades, the ninth installment in the Percy Jackson series will be out in... wait for it... 9 DAYS.
  • That week (October 7th- October 14th) I shall, instead of doing my regular posts, be posting purely Percy Jackson things.
  • The Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday it comes out, I will not post. Hopefully I can get my act together and do a non-spoiler review and spoiler review by the end of the week.
  • BUT I'd also like to add that that Saturday, I will be seeing the man himself. Expect a full blown post of pictures and videos and FANGIRLING.
  • But yes. That is the summary of the things.
NANOWRIMO:

  • NaNoWriMo or National November Writing Month starts on November 1st which is about 33/34 days away. ONE MONTH.
  • During NaNoWriMo, I will only post once a week, and that will be a weekend recap on my writing and such.
  • I will also create a NaNoWriMo page for those who don't know what that is and/or want to see my progress and read snip bits of what I've written.
  • I am Sci-Fi/Dystopian/Action writer. I have a female lead character and a bunch of awesome side characters planned out so far.
So those are just the certain updates and announcements that needed to be made!
Now for the fun stuff:

To make up a little bit for missing my days, here's my current reading jest:

  • Recently Finished
    • I just finished Madeleine Roux's Sadie Walker is Stranded and Kevis Hendrickson's Rouge Hunter: Dark Space! They were both amazing! I hope to get my review of Rogue Hunter this week because you can buy it on Tuesday! And of course you'll here me blab all about the zombie novel BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME.

So yeah. I hope to get a bunch out this week, but most of you know how unpredictable school can be and how it really messes up your other life. Have a great week!

W...W....W...Wednesday: Fangirl

Ello Mates!

For Wednesday I'm going to do W... W... W... Wednesdays hosted by Should Be Reading.
  • Currently Reading
I am currently reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and I don't quite have an opinion on it. But I do hope it's good and that its all that people have said its cracked up to be.

  • Finished Reading
I recently finished reading Escape from Camp 14, which was an amazing book. I had originally wanted to read it because John Green said amazing things about it and it sounded like just the educational book I need for the political view on North Korea.

  • To-Read
I won many ARCs this past week and I hope to read most of them. That includes Rogue Hunter: Dark Space by Kevis Hendrickson, Water by Terra Harmony (Oh MY GODS THE COVER), and so many more! Can't wait to start!

Notes
Not too much to say on this fine, fine day. I have a lot of tests coming up so I'll be more freaking out over that than reading, but hopefully I'll have a lot more time to read soon! Have a good HUMP DAY!
