12/17/13: Top Ten Tuesday: Writer Newbies

This meme is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish
December 17: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013

On this topic I could write a million authors, but I'll just do my favorite new ones of this year.

  • Huntley Fitzpatrick
    • Huntley wrote one of favorite books this year, My Life Next Door. I'm ad so excited to read her next few books when they come out!
  • Kevis Hendrikson
    • He is definitely a new author for me this year. I appreciated getting the chance to read his books this year.
  • Marie Lu
    • OoOoOo, probably my favorite dystopian author this year. Her books blew me away.
  • Lauren Kate
    • I'm still reading her series, Fallen, and I don't know what I think of them yet. I think I'm leaning towards three stars, but I don't know, maybe she'll surprise me!
  • Madeleine Roux
    • I really loved falling into her zombie novels, Allison Hewitt is Trapped and Sadie Walker is Stranded, and really must read her Asylum novel.
  • Rainbow Rowell
    • I think she'll be on everyone's list this year. Quite the breakthrough writer.
  • John Green
    • I DO NOT REGRET A THING. These books were so good and I love what John does with his brother and everything about it is wonderful and happy.
  • Tahereh Mafi
    • I think these books were so very unique. Shatter Me and Unravel Me just blew me away.
  • Cassandra Clare
    • Ha. Hahaha. See John Green.
  • Tamera Ireland Stone
    • I also enjoyed divulging my self in her books. I liked that romantic and timey wimey feel they had.

School and such....

Hey guys...

It's been a while. I'm really sorry I didn't have my act together this week. It's just been a little hectic for me. I hope I can back into jest of things. I want to do a bunch more reviews, and read some more now that it's calmed down a bit and I get a four day weekend next weekend. BUT I HAVE OTHER THINGS TO COMMUNICATE:

RICK RIORDAN:

  • As you all should know, House of Hades, the ninth installment in the Percy Jackson series will be out in... wait for it... 9 DAYS.
  • That week (October 7th- October 14th) I shall, instead of doing my regular posts, be posting purely Percy Jackson things.
  • The Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday it comes out, I will not post. Hopefully I can get my act together and do a non-spoiler review and spoiler review by the end of the week.
  • BUT I'd also like to add that that Saturday, I will be seeing the man himself. Expect a full blown post of pictures and videos and FANGIRLING.
  • But yes. That is the summary of the things.
NANOWRIMO:

  • NaNoWriMo or National November Writing Month starts on November 1st which is about 33/34 days away. ONE MONTH.
  • During NaNoWriMo, I will only post once a week, and that will be a weekend recap on my writing and such.
  • I will also create a NaNoWriMo page for those who don't know what that is and/or want to see my progress and read snip bits of what I've written.
  • I am Sci-Fi/Dystopian/Action writer. I have a female lead character and a bunch of awesome side characters planned out so far.
So those are just the certain updates and announcements that needed to be made!
Now for the fun stuff:

To make up a little bit for missing my days, here's my current reading jest:

  • Recently Finished
    • I just finished Madeleine Roux's Sadie Walker is Stranded and Kevis Hendrickson's Rouge Hunter: Dark Space! They were both amazing! I hope to get my review of Rogue Hunter this week because you can buy it on Tuesday! And of course you'll here me blab all about the zombie novel BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME.

So yeah. I hope to get a bunch out this week, but most of you know how unpredictable school can be and how it really messes up your other life. Have a great week!

Top Ten Tuesday: Seriously Sequeals

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish
September 24: Top Ten Best Sequels Ever (thanks Tiff for this suggestion!)

I haven't really read that many sequels, so I'm actually going to do sequels in series and what I thought of them.

  • Catching Fire by Susanne Collins
    • This was my favorite book in the Hunger Games trilogy, because it really caught my attention and was quite the plot twist. I was hesitant to read it at first because I did not get how the series would continue on.
  • Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margret Stohl
    • Oooo Yessss... This was an exceptional series. I adored these books for their character descriptions and fantasy aspect. I think Kami and Margret ended Beutiful Creatures, the first book, well enough that Beautiful Darkness just took it away.
  • Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
    • I adored how Jk took each book and made it it's own story instead splitting the full story up throughout the books. Like think if Harry was still looking for the Sorcerer's Stone in the Deathly Hallows?
  • Insurgent by Veronica Roth
    • I thought this book really brought forth the world. In Divergent, we only got to look at the two factions closely, but we didn't get to see the rest. But in Insurgent, just BAM, social societies and world politics and YES BEAUTIFUL POLITICS.
  • Prodigy by Marie Lu
    • Like Insurgent, BAM WORLD POLITICS. I love knowing what's happening everywhere. Not just in the small little Dystopatic area, BUT THE WHOLE FRENCH THE LLAMAN WORLD.
  • Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
    • I could feel the cold hard tension throughout this book. I felt the angst and the pain and the love. I loved the fights and the references. It was exceptional sequel and it is part of an exceptional trilogy.
  • Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
    • I adored this book. I was not too much of a fan of the first one, Delirium, but this one really showed the rebellion and the struggle and the fight, that was happening in this dystopian world.
Notes:
This was fun. Have a great Tuesday guys, and a good night. Tomorrow, I will do a W...W...W...Wednesday. I will switch each week for Waiting on Wednesday and WWW Wednesday.

8/22/13: Zombies, Shadowhunters, and Tears OH MY!

Hey guys!

I have a good deal to talk about in this post, but, come on, when don't I? First off let's talk about Cassandra Clare.

Cassandra Clare has written a boat load of books. All in the same category or "world". That is the Shadowhunter world. Shadowunters are humans that have angelic blood, and protect the world from demons, and rouge downworlders. Downworlders are anything from faeries to werewolves to vampires to warlocks (and rumoured zombies). They tend to help keep peace, but, not always. The main character is a sixteen year old ginger living in Brooklyn, Clary Fray. She and her nerdy (and totally hot) best friend to a club called the Pandemonium, and that my friends, is when the pandemonium starts. We also meet more wonderful and well developed characters like Magnus Bane, our magnificently glittified warlock, Alec and Isabelle Lightwood, two badass siblings that kick demon buts with gold whips and beautiful dark locks, and finally, last but certainly not least, our protective, duck fearing, demon slaying, sassy, natural blonde Jace Herondale.

Yesterday, the movie adaptation to the first book was released in theaters (in America). I will not be seeing it until Friday do to school (pfft). On Friday I will hopefully write out a full review if I have time, like I had for Percy Jackson. It will contain spoilers but I will mark it as so.

To Look Up Cassandra Clare's Works:

City of Bones
City of Bones Movie Trailer
City of Ashes
City of Glass
City of Fallen Angels
City of Lost Souls (fair warning you might cry)
AND SOON TO BE RELEASED (Spring 2014) City of Heavenly Fire

She has also written:

The Infernal Devices Prequel Trilogy
The Magnus Bane Chronicles

AND SHE JUST KEEPS GOING.

ALLISON HEWITT IS TRAPPED BY MADELEINE ROUX (A STORY OF LIFE, LOVE, AND A KICKASS ZOMBIE KILLER)

DO YOU NEED A THRILL BOOK? ARE THOSE CONTEMPORARY NOVELS JUST BORING THE HECK OUT OF YOU? WELL YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!

Allison Hewitt our female protagonist, works in a bookshop when it happens. She and her fellow employees and customers get themselves in the break room and look the industrial doors. Allison finds herself a computer and gets on SNet, a government ran wireless system, and blogs. Yes blogs. She blogs about her story as she fights to find her mother, struggles with thieves and extremely religious housewives who want to repopulate the earth and set fire to the damned (humans and undead alike). She also finds love and trust in other characters that she meets along the way. Will Allison find her mother? Will she fall in love? Will she find a safe place to hide? Will she become undead?

Find out in this thrilling All-American Zombie novel! And don't forget to read the sequel!

Goodreads:

Allison Hewitt is Trapped
Sadie Walker is Stranded

LOOKING FOR MY HEART (I MEAN ALASKA) BY JOHN GREEN

This is one exceptional book. We start out with the character Miles "Pudge" Halter, a kind of shy guy who has an obsession with remembering last words. He goes off to a boarding school for the first time to search for his "Great Perhaps". He meets many friends along his way including his roommate and capital-population-country memorizing Chip Martin, and the wild and free Alaska Young. Read the spectacular and memorable pranks, the self-realizations, and the budding friendships and romances.

John Green, as I send in my previous blog post, knows how to break a heart. Each one of his novels, makes you pause and look at the world in a whole new way. It makes you fall in love with the characters and the situations and the placing.

If you didn't already know about the world renowned fandom that he and his brother started way back in 2007 with his brother, than I suggest you listen up. Nerdfighteria is a base of millions of kids and teenagers and adults all around the world aiming to decrease world suck. Two times a week John and his Hank post videos about world problems, John's books, puppy-sized elephants, or anything they bring up. They have educational channels and the support other youtubers like Tyler Oakley and Emily from the Brain Scoop and Vsause. I adore the heck out of these two guys and I hope you do too!

Goodreads:

Looking for Alska

Hank and John's videos:

How to be a Nerdfighter

See you guys hopefully Friday, for the City of Bones Review!
Until then...
